Welcome, and thank you for supporting dollop. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of dollopmag.com (the "Site") and any purchase, donation, or order you make through it. Please read them carefully. By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are
dollop® is a magazine published by Dollop Editions, Inc., a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, based in New York. In these Terms, "we," "us," "our," and "dollop" refer to Dollop Editions, Inc.. You can reach us at info@dollopmag.com.
2. Agreement to these Terms
By accessing the Site, placing an order, or making a donation, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by any policies referenced here, including our Privacy Policy and Accessibility Statement. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or place an order.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to place an order or make a donation. By ordering, you represent that the payment information you provide is your own and is accurate.
4. Our content and intellectual property
The magazine and the Site — including all articles, photographs, illustrations, design, layout, logos, and the trademarked "dollop" name — are owned by us or used with permission, and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may enjoy the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, republish, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission, except as allowed by law.
5. Acceptable use of the Site
Please use the Site lawfully and respectfully. You agree not to interfere with the Site's operation, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, scrape or harvest data, upload malicious code, or use the Site to violate anyone's rights. We may suspend or restrict access to anyone who misuses the Site.
6. Orders, pricing, and payment
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars. We accept payment through Stripe, our third-party payment processor; your payment is subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy, and we never receive or store your full card details.
Placing an order is an offer to purchase. We may accept or decline any order, and we reserve the right to cancel or refuse an order — for example, if an item is unavailable, if there is an error in pricing or product information, or if we suspect fraud. If we cancel an order you've already paid for, we will refund that order.
We try to keep pricing and product details accurate, but errors happen. If we discover an error affecting your order, we will contact you and give you the choice to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
7. Sales tax
We collect New York State and applicable local sales tax on taxable sales, including the magazine and merchandise, and on related shipping or delivery charges where required by law. Tax is calculated at checkout based on your delivery or pickup location.
8. Fulfillment: pickup, local delivery, and shipping
We offer the magazine and merchandise largely through shipping, but occasionally via local pickup and delivery.
To organize a local drop off please contact will@dollopmag.com directly.
All other orders will charged for shipping through Shippo. Where shipping is offered, title and risk of loss pass to you when the carrier receives the package. Delivery estimates are not guaranteed, and we are not responsible for carrier delays.
9. All sales are final — no refunds
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. WE DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS, RETURNS, OR EXCHANGES, except where required by law or as expressly stated in these Terms (see "Damaged or lost items" below). By completing your purchase, you acknowledge and accept this no-refund policy.
This policy is disclosed to you before you complete your purchase, as required by New York law. If you have a question about your order before buying, please contact us at info@dollopmag.com.
10. Damaged or lost items
We want you to receive your copy in good shape. If your item arrives damaged, or does not arrive, please email info@dollopmag.com within [14] days of delivery (or of the expected delivery date, if it never arrived) with your order number and, for damage, clear photographs of the item and packaging.
We review these on a case-by-case basis and may, at our discretion, offer a replacement where one is available. This is the exclusive remedy we offer for damaged or lost items, and nothing in the "no refunds" section above limits any rights you may have by law. Reporting outside the window above may mean we are unable to help.
11. Donations
Donations to dollop are voluntary and non-refundable. We are grateful for them, and they help fund our work.
Where required, we will provide a written disclosure of the deductible amount. Please keep your receipt, and consult your own tax advisor about deductibility. We do not provide tax advice.
Dollop Editions, Inc. is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3).
12. Third-party links, embeds, and services
The Site may link to or embed third-party content and services — for example, curated Apple Music playlists, and our payment processor Stripe. These are provided for your convenience and enjoyment. We don't control third-party sites or services, we don't host the streaming audio ourselves, and we aren't responsible for their content, availability, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
13. Submissions
If you send us pitches, ideas, messages, or other materials — whether by email or through the Site — you're responsible for their content, and you confirm you have the right to share them. Please don't send us confidential information you don't want us to use. We're not obligated to keep unsolicited submissions confidential or to compensate you for them, except under a separate written agreement (such as a contributor agreement).
14. Disclaimers
The Site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any content is accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dollop Editions, Inc. and its directors, officers, volunteers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or any purchase. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for that purchase. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dollop Editions, Inc. and its directors, officers, volunteers, employees, and contractors from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

We may also email you news about dollop, such as new issues and events. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails or by emailing us.
4. How we share information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run dollop:
- Service providers who help us operate — for example, Stripe (payments), Shippo and shipping carriers (delivery), Cargo (website hosting), and emails — and only for that purpose.
- Legal and safety reasons — if required by law, or to protect our rights, our supporters, or the public.
- In connection with a transfer — if dollop reorganizes, merges, or transfers its operations, information may be shared as part of that, consistent with this policy.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Our Site and some of the services we use (such as Stripe, for fraud prevention, and our host, for basic functionality) may set cookies or similar technologies. These help the Site work properly and keep checkout secure. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly without them.
6. Third-party links, embeds, and services
The Site links to and embeds third-party content — for example, curated Apple Music playlists — and relies on third-party services like Stripe. We don't control these services, and their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. Streaming happens on the third party's platform, under their terms.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as needed to fulfill your order or donation, to communicate with you, and to meet our legal, accounting, and tax-recordkeeping obligations (which, for sales and tax records, may be several years). When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
8. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, and we rely on established providers like Stripe for payment security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
You can:
- Access or update your information, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@dollopmag.com. We may need to keep certain records (for example, completed-transaction and tax records) even after a request.
- Unsubscribe from any marketing emails at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy laws.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Where your information is processed
We operate in the United States, and your information is processed and stored here. If you access the Site or order from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be handled in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Effective date" above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page, so please check back.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Effective date" above, and the updated version will apply to use of the Site and orders placed after it's posted. Please check back periodically.
20. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in [County, e.g., New York County], New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
