Effective date: November 2nd, 2026
Welcome, and thank you for supporting dollop. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of dollopmag.com (the "Site") and any purchase, donation, or order you make through it. Please read them carefully. By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are
dollop® is published by Dollop Editions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Delaware and authorized to do business in the State of New York, with its principal place of business in Brooklyn, New York. In these Terms, "dollop," "we," "us" and "our" mean Dollop Editions, Inc. "You" means anyone who uses this website or buys from it.
You can reach us at info@dollopmag.com.
2. Agreement to these Terms
By using dollopmag.com, placing an order, or making a donation, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy set out at Section 17. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to buy from us or donate to us.
4. Our content and intellectual property
The contents of this site and of the magazine — text, photographs, illustrations, design, and the dollop name and wordmark — are owned by Dollop Editions, Inc. or by our contributors, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Rights in individual contributions remain with their creators, except where we have agreed otherwise in writing.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or make derivative works from any of it without our written permission. For permissions, write to info@dollopmag.com.
5. Acceptable use of the site
Please don't interfere with the site or try to break it. Specifically, you agree not to attempt unauthorized access to any part of it, scrape or harvest its contents by automated means, introduce malicious code, or use it in a way that infringes anyone's rights or breaks the law. We may suspend access to anyone who does.
6. Orders, pricing and payment
Prices are shown in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or hold your full card details.
Your order is an offer to buy. We may decline or cancel any order, including after payment, and if we do we will refund you in full. If a price has been listed in error we will tell you before shipping and you can either proceed at the correct price or take a full refund.
7. Taxes and duties
United States. New York State and applicable local sales tax is calculated at checkout where it applies.
United Kingdom. Printed books and magazines are zero-rated for UK VAT and carry no customs duty. There is nothing to pay on delivery, whatever the size of your order.
European Union. We are not currently able to ship to addresses in the European Union. Customs requirements introduced in 2026 make direct shipping from the United States impractical for a publication of our size. Write to us at info@dollopmag.com and we will tell you where to find a copy.
Elsewhere. For most destinations there is nothing to pay on delivery. Where that isn't the case we say so on our shipping page before you order. Import duties and taxes are set by the destination country and are the responsibility of the recipient.
8. Fulfilment and shipping
Orders are packed and shipped by us from Brooklyn, New York, using the United States Postal Service and UPS. We do not hold stock outside the United States.
Title and risk of loss pass to you when the package is handed to the carrier.
Delivery estimates are estimates. We cannot guarantee delivery dates, and we are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, weather, or customs clearance.
Trade orders to shops and other resellers are shipped DAP (delivered at place) unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. The recipient is the importer of record and is responsible for import VAT, duty, and clearance in their own country.
9. All sales are final
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns or exchanges, except where the law requires otherwise or where Section 10 applies.
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union. Distance selling law gives consumers a 14-day right to cancel most online purchases. That right does not apply to the supply of a newspaper, periodical or magazine, other than a subscription — see regulation 28(1)(f) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 in the UK, and Article 16 of the Consumer Rights Directive in the EU. dollop is sold as single issues, not by subscription, so the cancellation right does not apply to your purchase. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights in respect of goods that arrive faulty, damaged or not as described.
10. Damaged or lost items
If your copy arrives damaged, or does not arrive at all, email info@dollopmag.com within 14 days of the delivery date or the expected delivery date. For damage, please include photographs of the magazine and of the packaging it came in.
We will review each case individually and, where we agree something has gone wrong, send a replacement copy. A replacement is your exclusive remedy under this section. Where the law gives you a further remedy, that law applies.
11. Donations
Donations are voluntary and non-refundable. Dollop Editions, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations may be tax-deductible in the United States to the extent the law allows. We are not able to give tax advice; please speak to your own adviser. Recurring donations continue until you cancel them, and you can cancel at any time by writing to info@dollopmag.com.
12. Third-party links and services
This site links to and relies on services we do not control, including Stripe for payments, Cargo for hosting, and Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube for the dollop radio playlists. Their terms and privacy policies govern your use of them. We are not responsible for their content or their practices.
13. Submissions
Please don't send us unsolicited manuscripts, photographs or artwork. Anything you do send is not treated as confidential and does not create any obligation on our part to publish it, return it, or pay for it, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. If we commission your work, a separate written agreement will govern it.
14. Disclaimers
The site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind about the site, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We take care to make the magazine accurate, but neither the publisher nor the contributors accept responsibility for any loss arising from the use of information in it. The views of contributors are their own.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Our total liability in connection with any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including, for consumers in the UK and the EU, your statutory rights.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Dollop Editions, Inc. against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the site, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
17. Privacy Policy
Dollop Editions, Inc. is the controller of personal data collected through this site. Write to info@dollopmag.com about anything in this section.
What we collect. If you order a copy: your name, shipping address, email address and the details of your order. If you write to us through the contact form: your name, email address and your message. If you donate: your name and email address. Card details are collected and held by Stripe; we never see or store them.
Why we use it, and what allows us to. We use order information to pack and send your copy — that is performance of the contract you entered when you bought it. We keep order and donation records to meet our legal obligations, including tax and customs records. We reply to contact form messages because it is in our legitimate interest to answer people who write to us. We may also email you about your order, or occasionally to ask for feedback on the magazine. We do that on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving dollop, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Who we share it with. Stripe processes payments. Cargo hosts this site. Postal and courier services deliver your order, and customs authorities in the destination country receive the declaration information required to clear an international parcel. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we will not.
Sending information abroad. We are based in the United States, so if you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, ordering from us or writing to us means your information is transferred to the US. We use the services named above — Stripe for payments, Cargo for hosting, and postal and courier services for delivery. Each publishes its own privacy policy and data protection terms, which govern how it handles the information it processes. We do not have separate arrangements with them beyond those published terms.
How long we keep it. Order and donation records for seven years, which is what tax and customs record-keeping requires. Contact form messages for two years. Marketing email addresses until you unsubscribe.
Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, object to our using it where we rely on our legitimate interests, or ask for it in a portable form. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union these are legal rights under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. Email info@dollopmag.com and we will respond within one month, free of charge.
Cookies. We set only what this site and the shop need in order to work, and we use no advertising or analytics trackers. Stripe, our payment provider, sets two cookies to detect fraud:
__stripe_mid, which lasts one year, and __stripe_sid, which lasts thirty minutes. We do not embed third-party players or other content that would set cookies of its own.Children. This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Complaints. Please come to us first and we will try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to a regulator: in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk; in the European Union, the data protection authority in your country.
18. Accessibility
We want this site to be usable by everyone and are working towards accessiblity. As a one person team we are doing our best but will speed up specific parts if it will be helpful. Please tell us at info@dollopmag.com and we will try to fix it and to get you what you needed in the meantime.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The version posted here at the time applies to your use of the site and to any order you place after it goes up. The effective date is at the top of this page.
20. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom or the European Union, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country, or of your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
